‘Pasolini: In Retrospect’ in collaboration with Habitat World

The Italian Cultural Centre invites you to ‘Pasolini: In Retrospect’  in collaboration with Habitat World, India Habitat Centre New Delhi.
The week-long retrospective screening of Pier Paolo Pasolini’s best works (with English subtitles) will take place from November 2nd to 9th, 2022.

Le Mura di Sana (The Walls of Sana’a) is a documentary footage of the city of Sana'a in Yemen, one of the oldest continually inhabited cities in the world, with a voice-over calling for UNESCO to protect the city's architectural heritage before it is destroyed by development.

Accattone reimagines Neorealism by eschewing any sentimentality for the poetry of the everyday. After writing a pair of novels, Ragazzi di vita and Una vita violenta, set in the urban periphery of Rome, Pasolini decided to turn to cinema to continue exploring the world of a young loafer (Franco Citti) roaming the hardscrabble Roman slum of Pigneto.

Il Vangelo secondo Matteo

Is an austere, documentary-style retelling of the life and martyrdom of Jesus Christ. A man named Jesus from Nazareth claims to be the Messiah from the prophecies of Israel. Matthew, one of the disciples of Jesus, portrays his life and the message he preached to all.

Il Decameron (The Decameron) is a 1971 anthology film written and directed by Pier Paolo Pasolini, based on the 14th-century allegory by Giovanni Boccaccio, Il Decameron. A series of stories revolves around an aspiring painter, nuns, a gardener, a priest and a husband.

I Racconti di Canterbury

I Racconti di Canterbury( The Tales of Canterbury) is based on the medieval narrative poem by Geoffrey Chaucer. The second film in Pasolini's "Trilogy of Life", preceded by The Decameron and followed by Arabian Nights, it won the Golden Bear at the 22nd Berlin International Film Festival.

Il fiore delle mille e una notte

It is the last of Pasolini's "Trilogy of Life", which began with The Decameron and continued with The Canterbury Tales. The film is an adaptation of several stories within the original collection but they are presented out of order and without the Scheherazade, Dunyazad and King Shahriyar frame story.
